Marshal Brian Pope is a lifelong resident of Lafayette. Marshal Pope has 25 years of law enforcement experience in which 2 years were spent with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Department and the last 23 years have been dedicated to the Lafayette City Marshal’s Office.

He is married to Karrie Romero Pope and they have three children, Brennan-23, Dillan-20, and Gentry-19. He is a graduate of Lafayette High School-1982, University of Louisiana at Lafayette-1987, B.S. Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration, A.S., Political Science, Acadiana Law Enforcement Training-1992.

On December 6th, 2014 Marshal Brian Pope was elected by the voters of the City of Lafayette as the 11th City Marshal in the 105 year history of the office.


Phil Conrad is the Chief Deputy for the Lafayette City Marshal’s Office.  He has 25 plus years of law enforcement experience and was hired by the Marshal’s Office in 1992. Prior to him becoming Chief Deputy, he was assigned to the Warrants Division and Civil Division.  He oversees all aspects of the office on a day to day basis.


Chuck Clause is the Captain for the Lafayette City Marshal’s Office.  He has 20 plus years of law enforcement experience and was hired by the Marshal’s Office in 1996.  Prior to him becoming Captain, he was assigned to the Warrants Division, Civil Division, and Training Division.  He is the direct supervisor of the lower deputies at all levels.


The Mission of the Lafayette City Marshal’s Office is to execute all lawful orders and mandates of the Lafayette City Court. The City Marshal’s Office will protect the Lafayette City Court Judges, City Court Staff, City Court Building and all citizens who access the court. The City Marshal’s Office enforces all state and city ordinance laws, deters criminal activity, and protects life and property. Using professional leadership and dedication to providing quality service, the City Marshal’s Office will maximize the use of its resources to provide the highest quality service which will aid in improving the quality of life and preserving the peace for the citizens of our jurisdiction.
